Dark days ahead

The Covid-19 pandemic has now become part of our lives. So, we have to be prepared and we should not panic. Daily intake of warm water, garlic, ginger, turmeric, etc, will make our immunity strong. Sanitiser, hand wash, and masks have to become part of our lives. The government should advertise more about the use of yoga and Ayurveda for prevention and cure of Covid-19 and also encourage people to spread awareness about social distancing and use of masks.
The government should also make public announcements on daily basis that wearing a mask is compulsory for every individual. CCTV surveillance of general stores and other shops must be done to ensure that they are following rules.
However, do as we might, worse days are still ahead. One could not imagine three months ago that all the globe would become victim of Covid-19, with 4,51,000 deaths and counting. It is a matter of great concern that we may well see a flood of people getting infected in the coming months. Some studies forecast that more than 50% of the population will get infected. This means we have to keep practising social distancing for at least two or three years, until a vaccine becomes available. People are waiting for a vaccine but right now face masks are our best defence, especially as markets and transport services are resuming business.
It is unfortunate that many patients who are victims of other acute diseases, like cancer, TB, kidney failure, heart diseases, etc, have died due to the lockdown as they could not visit hospitals on time. The responsibility lies upon the younger generation to take care of their parents and grandparents. They should make them do daily exercises and ensure that they stay in hygienic condition and maintain a distance of at least 8 feet from other persons. Another method of precaution is to eat protein-rich diets and more and vegetables. These will boost immunity and also keep a person feeling healthy and less stressful.
