Daily rated workers of Forest division Awantipora hold protest, demand regularisation

PAMPORE: The daily rated workers of forest department of Awantipora division held a peaceful protest in range office Pampore on Monday.
The protesting was held under the banner casual/ daily wagers association.
The protesting employees were demanding the government to implement SRO 64 for their regularisation.
Mohammad Shafi Mir, union president causal labourers association Awantipora told Kashmir Reader that the previous government had approved their list in a cabinet meeting and later it was approved by the finance department.
The present authorities are sitting needlessly on the list and delaying it by not issuing SRO 64.
He added that they have been working in the department for the past 20 years and many of them have crossed the maximum age limit.
The daily wage earners said that they were hardly managing their basic needs on the meagre wages.
“We demand that the government regularise the services of casual labourers so that they are not to suffer any more,” he said.
