Bear cub captured in Boniyar Baramulla, released

Baramulla: A black bear (cub) was captured in Tehsil Boniyar area of Uri Baramulla on Monday morning, later released in nearby forests. Official sources in the wildlife department said that some people in Ijara village of Tehsil Boniyar spotted a black bear cub in their locality Monday morning and they informed the department. They said a team of wildlife officials reached the spot and captured the bear cub with the help of local people. They said the cub was later released in upper reaches of Bosnia forests.
Wildlife Worden for north Kashmir Mohammad Maqbool Baba said that this is season when black bears are venture in residential areas in search of food, he said we captured score scope of black bears and their cubs from past month in several areas of north Kashmir mostly in Handwara and all were released in the forest areas after medical checkup.
He appealed people living near the forest areas to be vigilant and not venture outside alone in morning and evening times, because in this season when black bears are out on search of food from their den after long winter slumber, so people are requested to be vigilant and inform wildlife officials in case they spot any beast in their locality.
