Police recoveres arms ammunition in Kupwara

Baramulla: Police on Monday claimed to have recovered large quantities of arms and ammunition from the forest areas of Kupwara.
In a statement to press Kupwara police said that, “based upon a reliable input a joint search operation was launched by Kupwara police and army’s 6 RR in Keran village and forest areas along the LoC. During the combing operation large quantity of arms and ammunition including 5 AK 47 rifles, 15 magazine, it’s 443 rounds, 2 UBGL and its 57 grenades, 6 pistols, it’s 12 magazines and 77 rounds, 15 hand grenades, and 2 AK sling were recovered from a dump”.
Police said that with this operation in Kupwara that has successfully foiled attempts to smuggle illegal weapons into the valley and spread militancy.
In this regard an FIR number 01/2020, under section 4/5 explosive substances Act and 7/25 IA Act, has been registered in police station Keran and further investigation has been started.
