PAMPORE: An unidentified person drowned in river Jhelum on Saturday evening in Zinpora Pampore area of police jurisdiction Nowgam.
Local residents told Kashmir Reader that one person drowned in the river near Zinpora Pampore while he was fishing.
They said a lady saw him drowning and raised an alarm which alerted other residents who immediately launched a rescue operation to fish him, but were unable to trace him
Locals said that police teams from Pampore and Nowgam stations also came to the spot and started a rescue operation but it was to be halted due to heavy rain and gusty winds. The identity of the drowned person was not known.
