E-launche of 2nd batch of JKSDM online skill development crash course held

750 candidates to receive training under Covid-19 special skill programs

Srinagar: J&K Skill Development Mission (JKSDM) on Tuesday, e-launched the second batch of its Covid-19: Let’s sKill IT online program in which around 750 shortlisted candidates will receive special skill trainings.
The trranning will be imparted on skills trades such as on cyber security, GST, tailoring skills (Masks & PPEs), internet web designing, front office operations in hospitality sector, beauty makeup etc.
The program was launched by the Principal Secretary to the Government, School Education Department and Skill Development Department Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon at Civil Secretariat, Srinagar in presence of senior officials of JKSDM including Mission Director, JKSDM.
During the launching ceremony of the program, Principal Secretary also had an online interaction with the trainers and candidates attending the training program. At the end of the ceremony, Principal Secretary also unveiled the certificate of participation and directed the officials of JKSDM to distribute certificates on priority basis to the candidates who attended the first batch of this Covid-19 special skill training program.
While appreciating the initiative, the Principal Secretary to the Government Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon said, “Distance learning is the need of the hour and such trainings should be encouraged, however at the same time it must be ensured that trainings match the quality standards.”
This phase-wise free of cost 10-day Covid-19 special skill training program was started by JKSDM on 18th May, 2020 in five skills namely Entrepreneurship Development, GST, Beauty Makeup, Domestic Electronic Appliances Repair and Maintenance, Customer Care and Internet & Web Designing. The first batch of the program which consisted of around 350 candidates concluded on 28th May, 2020.
Candidates including professionals, home makers, unemployed youth and students pursuing professional courses are receiving training for these courses in JKSDM affiliated institutions namely Amargyan Institute of Computer Sciences & Technology, Evergreen Computer Institute, Sri Sri Kaushal Vikas Kendra, Sampark Global and Zain-ul-abideen Computer Training Centre, National Institute of Technical Trainings, Infotech Institute of IT, Wyath Multi-Skills School, Super Computer College, GKIETR, Falkan Skill School and Gyan Institute of Vocational Trainings. Besides, daily class by instructors, the candidates are also getting an opportunity to interact with reputed industry experts.
During the first phase of the program, local, national and international experts such as Mr. Mohammad Mutaher, Vice President, Zomato – India, Er. B.R. Verma, Former Secretary, J&K State Board of Technical Education & Chief Coordinator YCET Jammu, Mr. Simon Mackenzie, Director, The BRIDGE Institute, Singapore and Mr. Anthony Rushton, Global Head of Learning Delivery, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) interacted with the participants and delivered lectures on various topics related to skill development and entrepreneurship.
