SHOPIAN: Deputy Commissioner Shopian Choudhary Mohammad Yasin Sunday visited Vehil and launched door to door screening for detection of persons with symptoms of COVID-19, create awareness campaign to sanitize and motivate people for testing.
On the occasion, DC said that the initiative to screen people for COVID-19 has been taken wherein special focus will be given to areas where the people infected with the disease have been found.
He said the focus is treating the locations where the infected people have been found as the epicenter, door to door screening is to be conducted there with a special focus on senior citizens.
The DC also said that screening of all people who had entered the district should also be conducted through the door-to-door method.
He appealed the people to help the frontline workers and boost their morale.
In the District, so far, 151 cases of COVID-19 are confirmed , out of which 107 patients have been cured and discharged.
Meanwhile, DC urged the masses of the locality to follow all the required health advisories especially maintaining social distancing and using face masks so that the risk of the infection is minimised.
Chief Medical Officer, Tehsildar Shopian and other concerned officials accompanied the DC during the visit.
He also visited New COVID Wellness Centre established in the Tourist Reception Centre Padpawan to take stock of arrangements.
The wellness centre has been established for keeping COVID-19 positive persons in isolation under the supervision of specialized medical care team.
The DC informed that the team of doctors and paramedics shall operate the wellness centre as per strict medical protocol for COVID-19 positive cases and disclosed that district administration has already identified several locations in the district to accommodate 800 such cases if need arises.
It was further informed that the facility will function in a fully sanitized environment for which adequate doctors and paramedics, medicines and other arrangements have been put in place, besides the provision of hygienic food for patients and staff, PPE kits, masks and sanitizers and foolproof security of the centres has already been made.
