Militant, associate arrested in Uri: Police

Baramulla: Police on Monday said that an active militant along with his associate were arrested in border town of Uri. Police said that they received information about the movement of militants in Uri and that several Naka’s were established by police, Amy and CRPF in various areas and one of them was near NS bridge on Uri-Baramulla road. They said that around 3.30pm, two suspected persons were coming from Saidpora towards Uri.

“On seeing forces, they tried to flee away from the spot. The party caught both of them and on preliminary enquiry they disclosed their names as Zubair Ahmad Tantry alias Abu Bakar son of Gulam Mohammad Tantry of Baharampora Rafiabad. He is an active militant of LeT outfit and his associate was named Bilal Ahmad Rather son of Gulam Mohammad Rather of Sahura Uri. “On their personal search, a huge catch of arms and ammunition and other incriminating material was recovered,” it said. A case (FIR number 49/2020) was filed against by police.
