Highway closed due to shooting stones

SRINAGAR: Traffic on Srinagar- Jammu highway has been suspended due to shooting stones between Ramsoo – Ramban. Only essential commodities vehicles are allowed to move on highway. An official from the traffic control unit Ramban told Kashmir Reader that the traffic has been suspended due shooting stones.

“Nearly 350-400 Jammu bound vehicles are stranded on the highway. The traffic will be allowed to move towards Srinagar on Saturday,” he said. The traffic on the Srinagar- Leh highway has also been suspended from last two days due to snowfall and landslide at Zojila. “92 vehicles are stranded at Sonmarg which are carrying essential commodities. Only stranded vehicles will be allowed to move from Saturday,” an official said. Meanwhile, Meteorological department has predicted light to moderate rain for plains and light snowfall for the upper reaches of the Kashmir valley for the next 24 hours.
