137 persons discharged after completing quarantine in Srinagar, Uri, Awantipora

Baramulla/Pampore: At least 137 persons were discharged from Srinagar, north Kashmir’s JNV Shahkote in Uri and south Kashmir’s IUST Awantipora after completing 14-day quarantine period on Tuesday. The government press release said that thirty-four more persons – who have been shifted into administrative quarantine upon their return to Srinagar two weeks ago – were discharged Tuesday after successfully completing their 14-day quarantine period. “All except one in this group belonged to Srinagar district. Upon being discharged, all these persons were ferried home. Concerned supervising officers oversaw their discharge and their transportation,” it reads. It added, “The remaining overseas-return or domestic travellers in administrative quarantine in the district will complete their quarantine period and will be sent home this week.” Over 32 persons were discharged in Uri, officials said. They said those discharged include students and others who had come from outside the state and some from outside the country. SDM Uri Dr Riyaz Malik appealed to the people to stay at their homes and be in touch with administration, health and police so that officials can take immediate steps in case of any emergency. Over 80 persons were discharged from quarantine at Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora after completing 14-day quarantine period. “80 persons include students, drivers and other businessmen who had come from other states of India and from foreign countries,” an official said, adding, “All of them were asymptomatic and they were asked to take further precautions at home.”
