Anantnag: Even as the district administration has been repeatedly assuring delivery of essentials to the doorstep, the LPG distributing agencies here in Anantnag district are once again avoiding home delivery, forcing people to come out and assemble in dozens.
The government has been time and again assuring that essentials will be delivered to the people at their doorstep. He even took to Facebook and while appealing people to stay indoors, assured that LPG and other essentials will be delivered to them.
The LPG dealers, however, in different parts of Anantnag district only park their vehicle at a spot where people have to assemble to fetch the cylinders.
“They are so arrogant that they do not even answer you when you ask them about the home delivery promise made by the district administration. They are forcing assembly of dozens of people, putting everyone to risk,” a resident of Bijbehara area told Kashmir Reader.
Similar reports were received from other parts of the district.
“Here as well, they park their vehicle at a spot and ask people to venture out. They have no concern for the safety of the people and their own as well,” a resident from Mattan area of Anantnag district said.
The home delivery of LPG cylinders has been a long pending issue in Anantnag district. Successive deputy commissioners have failed to make LPG dealers fall in line and comply with the home delivery orders for many years now.
The malpractice is hurting people now more than ever.
Kashmir Reader talked to Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Anantnag, Syed Yasir, regarding the issue. Yasir assured that he will take immediate cognizance of the matter.
“They have been asked to deliver the cylinders at the doorsteps and in case they are not able to, they should make sure that it is done in a manner that people are not forced to assemble in large numbers,” Yasir said.
He assured that he will talk to the authorities and make sure things are done in the manner they ought to be.
