Moderate rain in plains, snow on upper reaches from Thursday: MeT

SRINAGAR: Meteorological department has predicated light to moderate rain in plains and snow on upper reaches of Kashmir from Thursday evening. Deputy Director of MeT, Mukhtar Ahmad told Kashmir Reader there will light to moderate rain in plains and light snowfall on the upper reaches of the valley from Thursday evening. He said that the day temperature will be decreased for the next two days and the night temperature will remain normal. The lowest night temperature was recorded minus 0.6 degree Celsius at Pahalgam, while Srinagar’s day temperature was recorded 15.1 degree Celsius and night temperature was 4.1 degree Celsius. However, public as well as private transport from both sides on Srinagar- Jammu highway has been suspended and only essential commodities vehicles will be allowed to ply on Friday. An official from Traffic control unit Ramban told Kashmir Reader that only essential commodities vehicles will be allowed to ply from Srinagar towards Jammu. “No public and private transport will be allowed from both the sides of highway on Friday,” he said.
