CUS extends date for submitting exam forms

SRINAGAR: Cluster University Srinagar on Thursday said it will extend the dates for submitting examinations forms for upcoming semester-end examinations after a recent varsity notification put the students in a spot of bother.
Amid the ongoing pan-India lockdown to prevent the spread of the deadly Covid-19 disease, a notification issued by the Cluster University Srinagar on Thursday asked the backlog students of various programmes to submit the online examination forms and also deposit the fee by March 26 post which no form shall be entertained.
While the online submission of examination forms could be completed at home, to deposit the fee, which could be done only through banks, was out of place amid a ban on gatherings.
Controller Examinations at CUS, Dr Khurshid Ahmad clarified that they will extend the dates of the backlog examinations given the prevailing lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“2nd and 4th-semester examinations, which had been scheduled by them from April 1 and 15 respectively, will also be deferred due to the lockdown,” Dr Khurshid added.
He said that the varsity was about to notify the date sheets for the examinations before the lockdown came into force.
Asked about the timing of notification asking students to submit the examination forms amid the lockdown, Dr Khurshid said that they had sent the notification to the Information Department well before the lockdown, which however came late in the public domain.
“We will extend the dates once the university opens. As of now, we can’t even visit the campus,” he added.
