Surveillance teams identify 100 persons who concealed travel history

PAMPORE: Special teams including village heads, Asha workers, government employees, and police have traced nearly a hundred individuals who concealed their travel history in south Kashmir areas like Pampore, Kakapora, Awantipora, Tral, and Pulwama. These persons have now been taken for coronavirus screening and quarantine.
“We have identified around 100 people who had returned from foreign countries or other states. They were traced by our surveillance teams after visiting their homes,” Dr Mohammad Ashraf, Medical Officer Pampore, said.
About 45 persons with travel history have been quarantined at EDI Pampore and Kong Posh hospital, Dr Ashraf informed.
Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin told Kashmir Reader that all those who have returned from outside J&K are being registered by the health and revenue department.
“House owners who give their houses on rent have been instructed to enquire about travel history of their tenants and report that to the authorities,” he said.
The Tehsildar appealed to people to reveal their travel history voluntarily and come forward for screening and quarantine.
“When people conceal their travel history and mingle with their families, they not only make our job difficult but also put at risk the lives of their family members,” he said.
Meanwhile, people from different areas of south Kashmir informed Kashmir Reader that many persons and non-locals who have travel history to other states or countries are roaming free.
Such reports were received by Kashmir Reader from Pampore, Wuyan, Andrusoo and Samboora villages of Pampore where around a dozen people are said to have concealed their travel history.
