Srinagar: A Sopore man has died at Chest Disease Hospital, Srinagar on Thursday morning after being tested positive for novel Coronavirus two days ago.

According to doctors, the 65-year-old patient had other co-morbidities including diabetes and hypertension which complicated his condition.

“We have tried our best to treat him but his other ailments worsened his medical condition and he breathed his last at around 8.30 am,” said an administrator.

“We have informed the district and divisional administration about the death which is first in J&K related to Coronavirus. Now, its upto the administration to do his burial as per the protocol,” he said.

The man has the travel history to dozens of places outside Kashmir including Andaman and Nicobar islands, Deoband UP, Nizamud Din Delhi as he belonged to Tablighi Jamaat.

He has been currently putting up at Hyderpora Srinagar with family.
