11 co-passengers from Shopian quarantined

Shopian: All eleven persons from south Kashmir’s Shopian district who travelled with the lady tested positive for coronavirus have been taken to government quarantine facilities and their samples are being taken to conduct tests for coronavirus, officials said on Friday.
Officials said that a team of doctors and medical experts visited the homes of these persons to take them to the quarantine facilities. Media reports quoted the Chief Medical Officer for Shopian as saying that all these persons were taken to government facilities by Thursday evening but Kashmir Reader has learnt that a few of them were taken on Friday morning.
The Deputy Commissioner Shopian told Kashmir Reader that all people who had direct contact with these persons should contact officials and the medical team. “We have contacted all these families and our surveillance team is on it, but some people don’t reveal that they met these persons,” he said.
All these eleven persons have been quarantined but their test reports are yet to come. Chief Medical Officer Dr Sanaullah told Kashmir Reader that the persons are in hospital quarantine and are being closely watched. “We are watching them for coronavirus symptoms. After that, samples for tests will be taken,” he said.
When asked about the people who had direct contact with these persons, Dr Sanaullah said that authorities are tracking them as well and they have been told to remain in contact with the surveillance team.
Meanwhile, closure of shops excluding essential commodities has been ordered by the Deputy Commissioner Shopian. The Deputy Commissioner told Kashmir Reader that people whose marriages are scheduled should contact the tehsildars of their area to know about the permissions and restrictions.
