2 militant associates held in Handwara

BARAMULLA: Police on Saturday said that two militant associates were arrested in Handwara and arms were recovered from them.
“On the basis of reliable information , Handwara police along with 30RR Langate and 92 BN CRPF laid a surprise naka at Panthachowk Kralgund, Ananwan Hajan crossing. During surprise checking of the vehicles, two suspicious persons on seeing naka checking tried to escape from the spot, but were chased and apprehended by naka parties,” police said.
They were identitied as Nazir Ahmed Wani son of Abdul Khaliq and Bashir Ahmed Wani son of Mohammad Afzal residents of Sheikhpora Tarathpora , Vilgam, police said.
Police added that a bag was recovered from their possession containing one rifle, 3 magazines, one chinese pistol, 3 pistol magazines with 24 rounds, one UBGL and other arms.
Case FIR 16/2020 U/S 7/25 Indian Arms Act, 13,18,20 UA(P) Act was registered in Police Station Kralgund and investigation has been taken up, police added.
