Ganderbal: A non-local labourer was killed and another injured after a snow avalanche struck Gund village of Ganderbal on Friday afternoon.
An official said that snow avalanche hit Rayil Naad area of Ganderbal where work was underway on a power grid. He said that two labourers who were working on the project were buried under snow.
A Police official said that a massive search and rescue operation was immediately launched in the area. The duo was rescued and were removed to a hospital for treatment.
One among them, however, succumbed to injuries and his associate is under treatment, he said.
The deceased were identified as Suran Singh son of Kartar Singh a resident Pathankot in Punjab and the other as Boby Singh son of Angrez Singh of Punjab.
