Srinagar: Kashmir University on Friday appointed Dr Ajaz Ahmad Wani as the varsity’s Director south campus.
An associate professor in Department of Botany, Dr Wani has served as Deputy Chief Proctor of the university besides member of several panels. He has done his M.Sc., Ph.D. in Botany from Aligarh Muslim University and was appointed as lecturer in the department in 2003.
He a teaching and research experience of 16 years with a specialization in Genetics and Breeding of crop plants. He has more than 70 publications in National and International Journals and has published a book on Chromosome Structure and Aberrations published by Springer in 2016 besides several book chapters.
His significant contributions in the field of research are Development of Germplasm Repository and first Mapping Population of Apple in Jammu and Kashmir. Dr. Wani is recipient of distinguished scientist award for his contribution and achievements in the field of Cytogenetics and breeding from the Centre for Advanced Research and Design, Venus Internal Foundation in 2016.
