Civilian killed, another injured in Srinagar grenade attack

SRINAGAR: A civilian was killed and another injured in a grenade attack on Friday evening in Srinagar’s downtown area.
A police officer said that a grenade was lobbed at a CRPF camp in Zaina Kadal area at around 7:30 pm. Two civilians were injured in the attack, he said.
The duo was removed to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital for treatment where one among the injured was declared brought dead.
A senior doctor at SMHS Hospital told Kashmir Reader admitted that two civilians were brought to the hospital. One among them was brought dead and the other is under treatment. His condition is stable, he added.
Soon after the incident, police and CRPF reached to the spot and cordoned off the area. They started searches to nab the attackers.
This was the second militant attack in Kashmir on Friday. Earlier, suspected militants killed a civilian in south Kashmir’s Tral.
The Zaina Kadal attack occurred a month after a grenade was hurled in Srinagar’s Partap Park in which four CRPF personnel and seven civilians were injured. But the police cracked the case and arrested the attackers within a record week’s time.
