Civilian, cop killed in Sopore attack

BARAMULLA: A policeman and a civilian were killed and another cop injured when militants fired upon them in north Kashmir’s Warpora area of Sopore on Wednesday evening.
An official confirmed that militants fired upon policemen in Warpora village resulting in the death of a policeman and a civilian. He said that the second policeman received firearm injuries and was hospitalized.
Block medical officer (BMO) Sopore Dr Azmat confirmed to Kashmir Reader that they received two bodies of slain policeman and a civilian.
They were identified as SPO Wajahat Ahmad Bhat son of Asadullah Bhat of Wagoora Kreeri and the civilian as Umar Shaban Wagay son of Mohammad Subhan Wagay of Warpora Sopore. The injured cop was identified as SPO Showkat Ahmad Khanday of Wagoora Kreeri.
Sources said that both the cops were in civics when militants fired upon them.
Meanwhile the police and other forces cordoned off the area and started a hunt to trace the assistants.
