Power cuts at SIDCO Pulwama hurting business activities

SHOPIAN: Long power cuts is taking heavy tool on businesses in Pulwama, forcing industry owners to used diesel and petrol generators at Industrial growth centre (SIDCO) Lasipora Pulwama.
Industrialists based in the estate told Kashmir Reader that the power cuts since December last year is hurting their business. They said that 24×7 services promised to them have not been fulfilled even by the end of February.
“Nobody is concerned about our losses which we face due to the lack of electricity,” Showkat Ahmad, an owner of card board factory told Kashmir Reader.
Around 400 small scale and big industrial units are running operations in this estate which is spread on around 4000 kanals of land.
Another small-scale industrialist told Kashmir Reader that the generators cost the owners thousands of litres of petrol and diesel to run the machines despite paying heavy bills of electricity services.
Industry owners from this estate demand speedy restoration of 24×7 power supplies.
Executive engineer power development department Pulwama, Nazir Ahmad Malik also admitted about the curtailment of services for hours. “We are restoring 24-hour services soon ifthe weather remains pleasant,” he said.
