College contractual teachers hold protest, demand job policy

SRINAGAR: All Jammu and Kashmir College Contractual Teachers Association (JKCCTA) on Thursday held a protest here in Srinagar demanding job security policy in higher education department.
Scores of contractual college teachers from various district of Kashmir assembled here in press enclave holding placards and banners in their hands which reads, “fulfill our demands”, “justice delayed justice denied”,”save youth save Kashmir,” “we want justice” and “we want job security”.
Teachers said that they are serving the department from last 20 years and the government has mademany promises with them.
“But these promises has not beenfulfilled,” they said.
Majeed Ahmad, a college contractual teacher said they are nearly 2000 contractual teachers across Jammu and Kashmir who are serving the department from last 20 years, but their demands has not been fulfilled by the government.
“We are without salaries from last eight months. We are not able to fulfill our basis needs,” he added.
Another teacher said, “We are demanding that the government provide us proper job security.”
They requested Lt Governor to look into matter and provide them job security policy.
