Panchayat members protest in Uri against delay in public works

BARAMULLA: Panchayat members of north Kashmir’s Uri on Wednesday staged a protest against the government for delay in public works.
A large number of Panchayat members including Sarpanch’s and Panch members of Uri assembled in main market and staged a protest march against the delay in public works in their blocks. The protesters shouting slogans and marched till the office of the Sub Divisional Magistrate and presented a memorandum to SDM Uri in which they said that government has not impowered them as one and half years have passed.
Haji Mohammad Hanif, Deputy BDC chairman while talking to media said that from the time when they were elected, the public works are still incomplete and officials do not heed to their demands. He said that the government has failed to solve their problems and they will resign from their posts “because they can’t face those people who cast their votes in their favour”.
