PAMPORE: The residents of Pampore have been waiting for replacement of doctors transferred from Sub district hospital six months ago.
Locals told Kashmir Reader that Dr. Tanveer Ahmad, a neurologist, was transferred two months ago but till date the hospital is waiting for his substitute.
“All neurological patients from Pampore and adjoining areas were attended by Dr. Tanveer Ahmad but after his transfer people have been made to suffer as they have to move to SKIMS, SMHS and other private hospitals in Srinagar for seeking neurological consultation,” an elderly residents of Pampore and president of Fallah Behboodh Committee, Bashir Ahmad Bhat said.
He told Kashmir Reader they took up this matter with local administration many times and sought replacement. “We were told that a lady doctor, Dr. Shahzada from JLNM hospital Srinagar was instructed to join as replacement for Dr. Tanveer Ahmad but his transfer was halted by director health services Kashmir,” he said.
The locals further said that ENT section has been defunct for past seven months after Dr. Mudasir resigned. “The post is vacant since then,” they said.
The residents said that X-ray technician, Niyaz Ahmad was transferred from SDH Pampore to district hospital Pulwama but his replacement was not sent.
The residents said that post of Consultant in Medicine is vacant.
Local residents told Kashmir Reader that they have apprehensions that transfer of orthopedic doctors is also in offing which will almost make the hospital non functional.
“The orthopedic section has elevated performance of SDH Pampore and came as respite to orthopedic patients who used to travel to Srinagar,” the residents said. The residents warned authorities of severe repercussions if the doctors are transferred.
Mohamed Yusuf Malik, Civil society member Pampore told Kashmir Reader that SDH Pampore is an important health institution catering to patients from three districts including Pulwama, Budgam and Srinagar besides Pampore and it’s adjoining areas.
The SDH is situated along Srinagar-Jammu national highway and all trauma cases are ferried here for emergency treatment.
“We appeal Lieutenant Governor and district administration for providing all modern facilities including specialist doctors for the hospital, ” Yousuf said
Chief Medical Officer Pulwama Dr. Hasina Mir confirmed to Kashmir Reader that the posts are vacant.
“We have written to authorities for the replacement and I will again plead the matter before my seniors,” the CMO said.
On transfer of X-ray technician she said that he is needed for CT scan at district hospital Pulwama.
“SDH Pampore has two other X-ray technicians,” She said.
