LoC shelling: 50 houses partially damaged in Karnah

Kupwara: Fifty houses were partially damaged in intense firing and shelling along the Line of Control in north Kashmir’s Karnah a day ago when India and Pakistan forces targeted each other.
On Tuesday, a team of officials headed by Sub divisional magistrate (SDM) and Station House Officer (SHO) police station Tangdar visited the affected areas.
Official sources said that around 50 houses were partially damaged in the several villages of the area.
SHO Tangdar Police Station Wasim Ahmad confirmed that around 40 to 50 houses were partially damaged in the area in firing and shelling.
However, he said there is complete lull from Monday evening in the area and guns from both sides fell silent.
The local sources said that a civilian Mohammad Saleem resident of Tar village who was killed on Monday was buried in his local graveyard on Tuesday morning and scores of people participated in his funeral prayers. They said the most of the shops in Tangdar market remain closed on second day due to fear in this mountainous area.
