SHOPIAN: Cordon and search operation was launched by joint team of government forces at Molu Village in south Kashmir Shopian on Thursday evening.
Locals said that scores of armed vehicles reached the village and laid cordon around the residential area.
Official sources said that a joint team of forces including 44 Rashtriya Rifles of army, 14 and 178 battalion of Central reserve police force and Jammu and Kashmir police launched the search operation to trace the militants hiding in the area.
He said that operation was launched after “intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area”.
Locals said that door to door searches was carried out by the joint team of forces. They said that despite heavy snow in the area, forces from different camps and police establishments have been called for the operation.
