SRINAGAR: The top storey of a building along Batamaloo Karan Nagar Road was damaged in fire that erupted in its third storey.
The building that was housing many non local families that rushed to safety soon after the fire in one of their quarters. The locals and fire and emergency services arrived to douse the flames.
However, the intensity of fire resulted in damage to the third floor with a blast of an LPG cylinder causing further damage to the floor.
An official from fire headquarters, who was present on duty, told the Kashmir Reader that fire originated from third floor of the building.
He confirmed that gas cylinder blasted during the fire, however another LPG gas cylinders was recovered by personnel before causing any damage.
An official from the Police Station Kara Nagar said that the reason of the fire has not been confirmed yet. A case has been registered in the police station.
The house according to police belonged to three owners including Farooq Ahmad Daga, Mehraj Din Daga and Mehraj Ahmad Dar.
