GDC falls short of vital components to fix teeth

SRINAGAR: The Government Dental College is facing the short of key components that are necessary to conclude the procedure of root canal carried on patients at the hospital.
Hundreds of patients are waiting for the caps called (crowns and bridges) to arrive at the college to be fitted on their operated teeth.
Many have been waiting for last 40 days for the gear to arrive.
The hospital under the aegis of the dental college is lone dental hospital in Kashmir Valley, where hundreds of patients from different districts arrive for treatment purpose and significant number of them goes under Root Canal treatment to save their teeth.
However, with the procedure complete at one of the facility at the hospital who then sends patients to Prosthodontics for fixing of the caps has piled the patients as doctors there say there say that are shot of the caps and bridges,
“The doctors in the department of Prosthodontics told me that, they can assure us when they will call us again as there is shortage of the supply in the college,” one of the patients said.
Deputy Medical Superintendent of Government Dental College and Hospital, Mansoor Ahmad said that the dental college is taking the supplies from Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation. As we have send requisition to the corporation of the supplies which is urgently need in the college and we are waiting for the same to arrive.
“From 2014, the dental college is taking the supplies from the corporation and supply to the dental college has not been receive yet,” he said adding that once supplies reach us we will provide dates to the root canal patients.
