Acid victim’s family holds protest, demands action against perpetrators

SRINAGAR: Family members of acid victim – Mohammad Yaseen Bhat held a protest here on Friday demanding action against perpetrators.
Three masked men had thrown acid on Bhat at Padshahi Bagh here on December 8, 2019.
They assembled in Press enclave and chanted slogans, “We want justice”, “Throwing acid is a crime” and “Punish the guilty”.
As per the family members, Mohammad Yaseen Bhat, resident of new colony Batamaloo was living in the rented room at Padashahi Bagh area of Srinagar and three masked men threw
acid upon him December 8 last year.
“I was living in the rented house at Padshahi Bagh at the first floor and there was also another man namely Mohammad Yaqoob – who was also living in the second floor at the
same rented house in Padashahi Bagh,” said Mohammad Yaseen Bhat. “On 8th December at 7:30 pm, three masked men threw acid upon my body that gravely injuried me. When the
incident took place, I identified one accused namely Mohammad Yaqoob. Later, I registered a complaint in police station Sadder.”
An official from the police station Sadder told Kashmir Reader that Mohammad Yaseen have not registered his statement in the police station. “When he will register his
statement in the police station, then the investigation will start,” he said.
