New proposed bypass will hit our business: Pattan traders

BARAMULLA: The traders of Pattan are upset over new proposed bypass in their area, saying it is going hit their business which is on strategic Srinagar-Baramulla highway.
They said that the government should shelve this plan and make a new proposal and carry the road widening along the strategic route so that the market cannot suffer as many earn their livelihood from this market that also houses number of government offices.
Traders federation Patan president Sajad Ahamd Qadari told Kashmir Reader said that the proposed bypass will end business activity along the road.
“There is enough provision for widening of the road along the present course and traders are willing to cooperation in this regard,” he said.
He added that bye pass will lead to further curtailments of agricultural land in the area that has already been used by laying the railway line.
He hoped that the government will act keeping in view all the parameters necessary for development of the town and not deprive the people and businesses of this vital link.
