SRINAGAR: An event was held in Srinagar on Sunday to pay tributes to Agha Shahid Ali on his death anniversary – where poets, writers, artists and students paid respect to the great Kashmiri poet.
The open mic session was organised by Sparks Creativity Club and Freshcode Books at Gulshan Books and Café at Nehru Park. The theme of the event was “Agha Shahid Ali – poetics of resistance”.
The speakers shed light on the significance of Shahid’s poetry. They urged the audience to spread the message of Shahid – “which is of great importance to keep the spirits of poetry alive”.
The event was graced by authors Bisma Altaf, Sufi Auqib, Faheem Iqbal, Umar Dewani and Fatima Sherwani.
This was the first of its kind event held in the valley after the abrogation of Article 370.
