Top post lying vacant at Cluster University Srinagar

VC says process to complete in next few months

Srinagar: A key post at Cluster University in Srinagar is lying vacant for the last seven months affecting the work at the varsity.
The post of Controller Examination turned vacant early this year after the incumbent officer completed his services.
However, it was learnt that the varsity advertised the post in May for which 16 aspirants including three from outside the Valley were shortlisted.
An official said that the committee formed for selecting the candidates met in July before the abrogation of Article 370 disrupted the normal life in the Valley.
Except for that meeting by a screening panel, there had been no major development as interview of the shortlisted candidates are yet to be conducted, an official said.
Registrar CUS, Prof Abdul Hamid Sheikh acknowledged delay in filling the post saying they expect the process to be completed by February-end.
He cited communication blockade among the reasons for the delay in conducting interview for the post.
Vice Chancellor CUS, Prof Sheikh Javed told Kashmir Reader that the recruitment process got delayed as they could not contact the candidates from outside Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the Lt Governor, who is the chancellor of the varisity, has also appointed his nominee for the screening panel meant for selecting the candidate for the post.
“The quorum is complete. We have to just conduct the interview now,” he added.
