Civilian killed in cross-LoC fire in Macchil

Baramulla: A civilian was killed and seven others were injured in cross-LoC firing in Macchil area on Tuesday.
The firing created panic in the area, which locals said, has mostly remained clam during the recent skirmishes witnessed along the LoC.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammd Yousuf Khan, son of Wali Mohammad Khan.
Many residents shifted to safer areas even as the firing stopping on Wednesday.
SSP Kupwara, A S Dinkar, confirmed the killing and injures to residents.
He said the firing has stopped and the injured have been shifted to hospital.
Meanwhile, the PTI reported that Pakistan Army on Wednesday shelled forward posts andvillages along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri.
“At about 3.15 pm, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing small arms and mortars along the LoC in Sunderbani sector. Indian Army is retaliating befittingly,” a defence spokesman told PTI.
