9 years on, Shopian’s mini secretariat awaits completion

SHOPIAN: The mini secretariat at Shopian was started nine years ago by Jammu and Kashmir projects construction corporation (JKPCC), which is yet to be completed as the corporation said that security forces have occupied the block that has halted the work.
The foundation stone of mini secretariat Shopian was laid in April 2011 to mitigate the space problems of government departments. In 2016 uprising, a part of this secretariat was set ablaze.
Officials from JKPCC said that the work has been delayed as district administration has put troops in the block, due to which they are not able to finish the pending works.
Mini secretariat is being constructed with the estimated project cost of Rs 36 crore.
“If district administration shifts CRPF to alternate accommodation, then we have no issues to finish the pending works,” Masood Ahmad Wangoo, deputy general manager of JKPCC said.
