Day 69: Uncertainty continues in Kashmir

Srinagar: Normal life remained suspended on 69th day in Kashmir with all the shops and business establishments remaining closed to protest against the abrogation of Article 370 and Jammu and Kashmir’s division into two Union Territories.
Private vehicles were seen plying on Thursday in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir Valley.
Police and CRPF troops remain deployed throughout the day in Srinagar and other parts of Valley. Normal life across Kashmir remain affected for the 69th successive day as all the shops and other business establishments continued to remain shut while as the public transport remained off the roads. However, long queues of private vehicles were seen plying on Saturday in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir Valley.
The schools though opened by the government remained closed at most of the places where no student was visible in class room.
Besides, the cellular as well as the internet facilities continued to remain suspended for the 69th straight day. The services were suspended in the intervening night of August 04-05. However administration has decided to restore all prepaid mobile services in Kashmir Valley from October 14 (Monday).
Only the landline services across Jammu and Kashmir have been restored so far while as the cellular services were only restored in Jammu division.
Moreover, the train services from Baramulla to Banihal also remained suspended.
