MC Budgam asks ragpickers to register

BUDGAM: The Municipal Committee Budgam has asked ragpickers and Kabadiwallas, who are working within the limits of MC, to get registered.
According to the official, the aim of this project is to know how much plastic is being produced by the households and how many people are associated with this trade.
The executive officer of MC Budgam has published a notification in the newspapers which reads, “It is hereby notified to the general public that this institution is going to register ragpickers, kabadiwallas moving within the limits of Municipal Committee Budgam. Therefore, interested persons are hereby informed through the medium of this public notice to register themselves in office of the undersigned upto 15/10/2019 4 pm. Further information can be heard in the office of the undersigned during office hours.”
An executive officer of the MC Budgam, Anis Ahmad Chowdary, told Kashmir Reader that the main aim of the notification is to get the information about how many people are associated with the rag-picking within the municipal limits of the town and whether he/she is local or non-local.
“It will also give us a figure about how much plastic is being produced by the households of the municipal limits of the area. It will be helpful in knowing how many people are dependent on this profession,” he said.
He added, “When this data will be collected, we are going to handover this data to the Housing & Urban Development Department of Jammu and Kashmir.”
