Handwara: Officials of the Forest department have seized a Tata mobile vehicle which was ferrying medium quantity of illicit timber in Thukarpora Qaziabad area of Langate in North Kashmir Kupwara district.

According to officials, a nakka was laid by the Forest officials led by Range Officer Rafiabad, Abdul Qayoom Malla along with BO Payeen Mohammad Altaf late night.

The officials said, around 9 pm on Monday a Tata mobile vide registration number JK01R-8760 was seized and around 25 .93cft illicit timber was also recovered from the vehicle.

However, taking advantage of darkness, the smugglers managed to escape.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Divisional Forests Officer Langate .
