Shopian killings aftermath: Life comes to standstill across Kashmir

Srinagar: A spontaneous shutdown is being observed across Kashmir valley on Monday in wake of 13 militant and four civilian killings in south Kashmir’s Shopian district yesterday.

Strict restrictions have been put up by the authorities at numerous places across Kashmir while internet services continue to remain suspended on second straight day. Traffic is off the roads as  government forces have put barricades to curb any civilian or vehicular movement.

All educational institutions, commercial establishments and offices are also closed.

Notably, Joint Resistance Leadership has called for shutdown in the Valley today.

Kashmir University, Islamic University and Central University has ordered postponement of all examinations scheduled on Monday.

Meanwhile, situation in south Kashmir continues to remain tense.
