Jammu: Police Tuesday arrested a notorious criminal under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for his repeated involvement in different offences, especially thefts, in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.
The accused has been identified as Sunny Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri Yogal Manhas told PTI.
He has been booked under the Public Safety Act and lodged in Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu after the orders of detention were issued by district magistrate Rajouri, he said.
Sub Inspector Ajaz Mirza from Rajouri police station executed the order.
“They said the individual is involved in seven criminal cases registered at ppolice station, Rajouri,” the SSP said.
He was repeatedly found involved in anti-social activities, including theft and burglary, which is prejudicial to the maintenance of public order and posed a serious threat to safety and security of lives and property of citizens, particularly in Rajouri town, the officer said.
The SSP also asked people to ensure proper use of social media and not to use it as a medium of spread hatred matter.PTI
