Addl Transport Commissioner chairs MVD meeting

Srinagar: Additional Transport Commissioner, J&K Monday chaired a meeting to review the working of Motor vehicle Department (MVD) in Kashmir Division.

The meeting was attended by Regional Transport Officer Kashmir, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (HQ Srinagar), Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Board of Inspection, Srinagar) and all the representative of transport companies.

The transporters of the Kashmir valley raised some demands regarding a circular issued by RTO, Kashmir for color coding of sumo / maxi cabs. The Additional Transport Commissioner assured them that action will be taken by the department on the points as per rules /act. He also apprised the transporters about the action taken by the department on various demands already forwarded by them.

The Additional Transport Commissioner and RTO, Kashmir directed all the transporters to ensure reservation of seats for ladies and handicapped persons in all buses and mini buses. He also warned the transporters not to alter the seating capacity of their passenger vehicles after getting fitness certificates. He also directed the transporters to ensure the passenger service upto late hours on all the routes.  The transporters were also directed to give concession to students in their bus fare.
