Youth hit by teargas shell in Balhama

Srinagar: A youth sustained injuries after forces fired several tear smoke shells to disperse the protestors at Balhama Panthahowk area of Srinagar city on Saturday, reports said.

Reports said that a youth was hit by teargas shell in his abdomen after forces resorted to heavy teargas shelling and aerial firing to disperse the protesters who had come on roads protesting the killings during an encounter in the area that left three militants dead.

The injured youth has been identified as Farman Ahmad S/o Ali Mohammad of Balhama, sources said. The injured youth was shifted to Sub District hospital Pampore, the sources added.

Pertinently, a fierce gun battle between militants and forces took place in Balhama two days back resulting in the killing of three militants. Two of the militant bodies were recovered yesterday while as body of a third militant was recovered by the search party during the sanitization process of the encounter site. Soon after the recovery, clashes had erupted in the area.
