Handwara: Government forces on Monday launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in North Kashmir’s Margam area of Handwara and south Kashmir’s Shopian village, police sources said.
They said that a joint team of Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF sealed all entry and exit points at Margam area of Handwara following specific information about presence of militants in the area.
Meanwhile SP Handwara confirmed that CASO was started in the area, however, no contact has been established with the hiding militants yet, he said.
Meanwhile, forces started a CASO Aastan Mohallah of Awneera area in Shopian District of South Kashmir.
Sources said that RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF launched the operation jointly after militant movement was detected in the area.
They added that large number of troops were deployed in the area and door to door search operation was conducted.
