Sopore:  Continuing its drive “war against drugs” Sopore Police on Monday claimed to have arrested three notorious drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A spokesman of police said that acting on specific information Police Party of Police Station Sopore led by SHO Sopore Syed Mudasir Gellani laid a naka near Dumna Complex Neharpora Sopore under the supervision SDPO Sopore Mashkoor Ahmad Zargar JKPS.

“During naka checking, a vehicle bearing registration number JK03- 2660 (Santro) was intercepted and after searches 680 Capsules of Sposmoproxnion and 24 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered” the official said.

Police identified the accused as Manzoor Ahmad  Sofi @Man Dab. S/o. Bahsir Ahmad Sofi. R/o. Neharpora Sopore, Muneer Ahmad Shah. S/o. Mohammad Munwar Shah. R/o. Neharpora Sopore and Farhan Hameed Shah. S/o. Abdul Hameed Shah. R/o. Noorbagh Sopore. The vehicle has also been seized by police.

Consequently, a case FIR number 49/2018 under section 8/22 NDPS Act has been registered and investigation has been taken up.

Pertinently, Manzoor Ahmad Sofi @Man Dab was a chronic drug peddler.
