Sopore: Scores of Private Bank employees on Tuesday staged a protest against the alleged massive backdoor appointments in Urban Kashmir Mercantile Co-operative Bank in Sopore and the suspension of two employees.
While demanding cancellation of ‘backdoor appointments’ in Mercantile Cooperative Bank in Sopore allegedly made by managing department of the bank without notification, the protesting employees said that they want disengagement of those nine appointed persons who were illegally appointed and stern action should be taken against the bank officials involved in this scam.
They said that appointments without notification are banned but people in power continue to flout the order.
The protesting employees also demanded immediate release of pending salaries, promotions, arrears and other wages.
Meanwhile, Traders Federation President Sopore Haji Mohammad Ashraf also vowed to fight against such backdoor appointments in case the allegations leveled by employees were found true.
“We can work as a bridge between protesting employees and administration. We can put our efforts for saving the bank and can listen to parties from both the sides,” he said.
He said that they don’t want that banks should face more losses. “If protesting employees demand is genuine we will support them fully,” he said.
Despite repeated attempts, Managing Director of Kashmir Mercantile Co-operative Bank could not be contacted for his comments.
