Srinagar : Army on Sunday claimed to have killed a militant and three “OGWs” accompanying him, at Pahnoo village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Army’s Srinagar based defence ministry spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia told that militants attacked army’s 44 RR party at Pahnoo village at around 20:00 hours. The fire was retaliated triggering off a gunfight. In the exchange of gunfire, a militant was killed, the spokesman said.

“Body of the militant was recovered along with a weapon,” he said, adding, “Three OGWs accompanying the militant in a car were also found dead.” The spokesman said that police has reached the spot and started legal formalities. He identified the slain militant as Shahid Ahmad Dar son of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar resident of Jamnagri, Shopian. The identities of the three persons are being ascertained. Meanwhile, official sources told GNS that all the bodies of the deceased have been taken for post-mortem and other legal medico formalities by the concerned police.

Confirmng the inciden PRO Defence has identified the militant as Shahid Ahmad Dar S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Dar R/o Jamnagri, Shopian. “Shahid and his three companions were killed in retaliatory fire after they attacked our check post at around 8:00 pm”.
