Kupwara: The residents of Astan Mohallah Kulangam village of Handwara area of district Kupwara have turned the ground of primary school, Health centre and Panchayat Houses into a garbage dumping site while as the corporation is acting mute spectator with taking no action against the inhabitants.
The students studying ion the Primary School and patients visiting the Health Centre said that the lawns of the school and Helsth centre is rapidly turning into garbage dumping site.
They said that it seems that the authorities have failed to implement ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyaan’ in Astan Mohallah Kulangam.
The students of SSA primary school Kulangam aghast over the foul infected smell in their schools premises, which according to the teachers is affecting their respiratory system of the kids.
“We have approached several times to the higher in this regard but unfortunately nothing was done,” teachers said, adding that “we wrote to Chief Education Officer (CEO) and concerned (ZEO) regarding the matter but no action was taken.”
“We have also advised locals many of the times to remove the Animals cow-dung and stop turning this place as dumping site but they also don’t pay heed over the requests,” they said.
“Swach Bharat mission is a failed mission as far as the School’s situation is concerned,” they added.
Teachers and students later urged higher ups to intervene into the matter and redress their genuine grievances art an earliest.
