Palhallan encounter: Trapped militants escape, search ops on

Jammu: The militants who were engaged in a gunfight with government forces in Palhallan village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have managed to escape from the encounter site, sources said.

The search operation however is going on , sources said.

Pertinently clashes had ensued between youth and government forces following the gunfight.

A youth was reportedly injured after government forces fired pellets at group of people who were attempting to approach the encounter site.

Reports said the youth namely Ghulam Hassan,24, has been shifted to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment. There was no official confirmation.

Clashes were goinh on when the last reports came in.

Pertinently,  an encounter had started between militants and government forces at Palhallan village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday morning.

Reports said that a heavy contingent of army and SOG cordoned off the area today wee hours today.

A senior police officer said that a joint team of army’s 29 RR, SOG and 53 bn CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation at Palhallan village following inputs about the presence of militants.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militant opened fire, triggering off a gunfight.

Meanwhile, internet services have been suspended in Baramulla district by the authorities for security reasons.
