2502 vacancies lying vacant in health dept in north Kashmir, admits govt

Jammu: Reflecting the non-seriousness of the J&K government to fill the positions of doctors and other paramedical staff, at least 2502 vacancies are vacant in various health institutions in north Kashmir and some districts of Chenab region.

This was revealed in a written reply to a query raised by NC MLA Mian Altaf Ahmad during the question hour in the House.

The health and medical education minister in written reply informed the House that 450 posts of consultants, medical officers, dental surgeons and paramedical staff were vacant in various health institutions of the district Baramulla.

Similarly, 56 such posts are vacant in the health institutions of district Bandipora and 102 posts of consultants, medical officers, dental surgeons and paramedical staff is vacant in district Pulwama.

“535 such posts are also vacant in various health institutions of district Kupwara,” the minister in his written reply said.

The minister further said 66 posts of doctors were vacant in Ramban, 129 in Doda, 74 in Udhampur and 123 in Poonch.

“Similarly, 64 posts of paramedical staff are vacant in Ramban, 110 in Doda, 912 in udhampur and 61 in Poonch,” the minister in his written reply informed the House.

The health minister further informed the House that under normal circumstances, the attachments of the specialists and paramedical staff was not done with. “Only in the emergent conditions or where the attachments become inevitable, temporary attachments are done as per the requirements,” the minister in his reply said.
