Restrictions imposed in Shopian, Srinagar parts

Srinagar: In wake of the “Shopian Chalo” march called by the joint resistance leadership (JRL), authorities on Friday imposed restrictions in south Kashmir’s Shopian district and parts of Srinagar city.

Official sources said that restrictions under Sec 144 CrPC have been imposed in Shopian district on the movement of vehicles and people.

They said that restrictions are also imposed in the areas falling under the police stations of Rainawara, Khanyar, Safa Kadal, Nowhatta and MR Gunj in Srinagar. Partial restrictions are also imposed in Maisuma and Khalkhud areas.

The authorities have also suspended Banihal-Baramulla train services today for “security reasons”.

Pertinently, four civilians were killed in force’s firing while as one boy lost his life in an explosion in the southern district in last eight days following which JRL had called a protest march to Shopian against the killings.
